fedex has no bathrooms, starbucks only noise

Starbucks has free wifi (with purchase). Theoretically, I should be able to get work done at Starbucks. And yet, the music played at most locations just distracts, and not in a good way.

The Manhattan libraries have free wifi. And I think you don’t have to have JavaScript and/or a library card in order to make use of it. Brooklyn and Queens are another story. And, theoretically, I should be able to get work done at a library. Well, except when the librarian’s cell phone rings and the librarian starts talking on the phone … Ironically enough, without whispering.

… You know, I remember hating those little old ladies who kept fiercely going “sssssssh!” in the libraries I used to visit as a child. Now I want them back. With the power and authority to confiscate cell phones that make noise.

FedEx Office locations have free wifi. They are quieter than libraries, but most of them don’t have bathrooms for the public. Or the bathrooms aren’t working. Or they have working public bathrooms … before midnight only. Or they have working public bathrooms all day, but there’s no way you’re going to use that.
