the long walk home 09

You know, in looking back and sifting through the memories and stories (and there’s no shortage of them), it’s funny to me that then, when I was going through it, it didn’t seem to be so much madness. Now, I look at all that happened in amazement. I used to beat myself up a lot for wasting so much time in those places, with those people. Looking back now, I am amazed I did as well as I did and progressed as much as I did. The odds were against any growth whatsoever.

I read recently that an environment of consistent stress results in the brain ceasing to create new cells. How interesting. That’s something we’ll return to later in the series.
